Grocery Delivery?

Dear Friends,

How is everyone doing?  I hope well.  Life is full of new experiences right now so I thought I would share a quick one with you.  I decided to order groceries for delivery.  I spent way too long adding things to my Target shopping cart.  By the time I was ready there were no open delivery windows for today or tomorrow… “Try Again Later.”  Well, that was a bummer.  But okay, I WILL try again later.

In between other things I was working on, I checked my cart again to see if I could check out.  YES!  One delivery window for today between 4-5 pm.  I’ll take it!  Oh wait, I have to sign up for a Shipt membership.  Ok, done.  Aaaannnnd… delivery no longer available. Try again later.

I’m truly excited to see how this delivery goes when eventually I do get a slot.  I realize many people have been having groceries delivered for years… decades probably.  But I love going to the grocery store.  And I am very picky so it is a real personal challenge/accomplishment to let go of that control.  I mean I didn’t add any fresh fruit to the cart.  The thought of having someone else pick out an apple or avocado is insanity to me.  Baby steps.

Hopefully helpful tip:  If you have never used Shipt before I was able to get a 4 week free trial during my Target check out.  I don’t know if this is only because of Target or if it is available for everyone who is new to Shipt.  You must cancel before the 4 weeks is up or you will be charged a nonrefundable $99 annual fee.  If you do cancel before the 4 weeks is up, you will have to pay $9.99.  At least, this is how I understood everything. So, I will happily pay $10 to not have to go to the store for the next 4 weeks.  I’ll reevaluate at that time.  Thought this info was too good not to pass along.

In other news, I’m trying not to waste any food.  Waste not want not.  I’ve got some yogurt about to hit its expiration date and a ton of lemons so I think I’ll make Ina’s Lemon Yogurt Cake.  I might freeze it (pre glaze) and save it for later (Easter?) but I think it will be a lovely finish to our “Big Platter” dinner we are planning on Saturday evening.  Plus my freezer is really, really full.  So, yeah, probably make it for Saturday.

Don’t forget that I am here for you!  If you have random ingredients laying around I can try to help you come up with a recipe.  Just post it in the comments.

Wishing everyone well.  Stay Safe and Stay Home!

Love,
Emily
