How to Cook Bacon in the Oven

I love bacon.  I know that doesn’t make me special; everyone loves bacon.  I actually make it pretty often and it can be such a hassle.  A pan is only big enough for about 6 pieces… and that is if you jam them in there.  You could be at the stove for ages just trying to get your bacon cooked.  Then, you have to make the rest of the meal and by the time that is done, the bacon is cold (still delicious, but cold).  THEN, you have to pour out the grease, wait for it to cool, clean the pan.  Big pain.  It is so much easier to make it in the oven.

Now, if you only need a couple of pieces of bacon for a recipe or something, make it in the  pan as usual.  If you are making more than 5 strips, make it in the oven!  Here’s how:

  1.  Preheat the oven to 425
  2. Line a baking sheet with foil
  3. Put a cooling rack (one that is oven safe) on the foil-lined baking sheet
  4. Lay your bacon out in a single layerIMG_5811
  5. Cook bacon until done.  Timing will depend on the thickness of your bacon and the position of the rack in the oven.  In this instance I made Farmland Center Cut bacon and it took about 20 minutes on the center rack in my oven.IMG_5820*Your bacon will get crispier as it cools a bit so don’t worry that it isn’t super crispy when you first pull it out of the oven

Enjoy your bacon and your super easy clean up of putting the cooling rack in the dishwasher and throwing away the foil!
