What special holiday meals are you making next week?  For Christmas Eve we always have Ham (pg. 85) and Grandma Babor’s Clam Chowder (pg. 37) at my mom’s house.  All other dishes change but the ham and clam chowder are staples!

For Christmas at my house I am making Beef Tenderloin (pg. 88), Mushroom Risotto, a simple green salad with The Perfect Vinaigrette and maybe Creamy Broiled Tomatoes (pg. 71).  We are having Spice Cake Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting (pg. 135) for dessert… and a platter of cookies and entire table of candy.

If you are feeding a lot of people and want something very simple might I suggest Oven Roasted Brisket (pg. 95) and Grandma’s Green Beans & Potatoes (pg. 72).  You can’t go wrong.  You can even make the brisket the night before, put it in the fridge, scrape the fat off the next day and rewarm.  I always make it the night before if I can.  In my opinion, it tastes better that way.

Regardless of what you are serving, wishing you and yours a happy, healthy and safe holiday!

With Love,
Emily

  1. Yum, yum, yum…can’t wait for all the delicious dinners, festivities, and chaos that comes with it. I know all will taste so delicious too. And kudos to you, Emily. Everyone that has purchased your cookbook absolutely LOVES it. There have been so many accolades from so many that I’m sure it is worth all your time and hard work.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2020 to all!

    1. That is wonderful to hear! Thank you so much! I just heard this morning that a friend’s daughter can’t wait to make Monkey Bread (pg. 29) for Xmas morning!

  2. Merry Christmas to you and your family!! You have made us all so proud of your talents in producing this wonderful cookbook. Everyone who gets it, reads it like a book and feels your presence with them as they read. I will always try new recipes and think of you, which is really a compliment because I don’t cook very much anymore, but when I do, I have you in my mind.

    1. It was definitely my intention to share the stories that go with each recipe. Thank you so much for reading them and understanding what they mean to me. Merry Christmas!

  3. Let the feasting begin…! Everything you’ll be having sounds so good. We’re having tenderloin too. A Christmas Day tradition here……along with great grandma Scott’s Black Cake and cheese cakes for dessert. Will be at the Vannoni cousins for Christmas Eve and am taking your cookbook to show it off to everyone. Christmas Day will be at the Scotts where everyone is receiving a copy of your wonderful cookbook. It is a joy to read because your love for family shows through on every page. Oh, I made your Candied Pecans this afternoon…..they are addictive!
    Merry Christmas!🎄

  4. Merry Christmas to all the Vannoni’s and Inchiostro’s!
The success of your cookbook, Emily, is due to the joy you have
for cooking, and the glorious love of your family. It doesn’t get any better!
